Design Working Group Overview

Workflows involving planning activities or events occurring in the future. Usually by scheduling people (including group bookings and multiple practitioner scheduling) and resources (a room and/or equipment) for an episode of care or encounter at a particular date and time.

Areas of focus include:

  • booked procedural (operations or surgery) or non-procedural admissions / requests for admission, outpatient clinic, community centre and in-home event booking, physical or virtual, of any duration from minutes to days
  • waitlist management (required by both procedural and clinic bookings)
  • unscheduled event management (e.g. emergency surgery cases, or walk-in clinics)
  • internal service scheduling (e.g. scheduling of physical therapy for inpatients)
  • repeating tasks that may not be scheduled yet (e.g. vaccination recalls, annual health checks and reviews).

DWG Establishment

The establishment of the first 12 Design Working Groups (DWGs) marks an important milestone in the Bluegum Health Transformation. Membership for these DWGs is close to finalisation, and initial members will meet with Design Facilitators for the first time in February 2026. This first session will support shared understanding, clarify scope, and set the foundations for collaborative design work ahead.
