Design Working Group Overview
Design standards and patterns forworkflows and functions (clinical and administrative) related to the real-time movement of patients and the transition between different episodes of care.
Areas of focus include:
- expected admissions, requests for beds, actual admissions, transfers, care type changes and separations for inpatient episodes
- logistics for clinics - managing arrival and departure activities and management of waiting rooms
- patient flow unit functionality, information supporting hospital resource management
- design of patient lists such as ward, clinic and service-based lists
- functions to support interhospital transfers and transport logistics, including Ambulance
- the management of physical medical records when not in storage (for active episodes of care)
- the design of indicators of the current logistics status of the patient in relevant on-screen locations
- "unusual" causes of patient movement such as death or Discharged Against Medical Advice (DAMA)
- clinical transitions of care support
- patient wayfinding support
- management of death, deceased patients on arrival, coronial death reporting.
